What
Warnings Does Google Give About Choosing An SEO Company To Work With?
I
thought you might find this helpful. I have written a synopsis of
the Google SEO suggestions here for your benefit. The entire SEO article
can be found here.
1) There
are no SEO companies out there with a secret insider
relationship
with Google…despite what an SEO company may allege or say
to you.
However
they do offer a few tips
that may
you decipher between a search engine ranking firm that will actually
improve
your sites ranking…and one that could get you completely
bounced from the
search engine results.
2) Be very wary of SEO
organizations that send you unsolicited email.
Who
is this SEO firm and how
did they get your email address?
3) No SEO Company can guarantee
a #1 ranking on Google.
Educate
yourself on the
differences between a natural page rank and a paid ad listing. Are
they guaranteeing only
very long, obscure phrases that you would probably wind up ranking for
anyway?
4) Be very careful if a
SEO firm secretive or won't clearly explain what they plan on doing to
improve your search engine rankings.
Since
it is
your sites reputation at stake…you have the absolute right
to ask for an
explanation of what they are going to do.
Why is this so important?
If
a search
engine optimization service uses doorway pages or "throwaway"
domains, your site could be immediately removed
from the Googles index.
Notice
exactly what there website has to say on this issue, I quote:
“Ultimately,
you are responsible for the actions of any companies you hire, so it's
best to
be sure you know exactly how they intend to "help" you.”
5) You should never,
ever HAVE to link to the website of a search
engine optimization service.
If you want link to them that is
one thing…but if it
is a condition of working with them—you may want to think
twice.
Be
concerned
if they suggest "free-for-all"
links, link popularity schemes, or submitting your site to thousands of
search
engines. These are a waste of time and your money.
6) Some SEOs may try to
sell you the ability to type keywords directly into the browser address
bar.
Google
tells us that these proposals require the installation of
“Special Software”
and to be VERY cautious before proceeding.
7) Choose wisely.
Do
your
research and make sure you feel comfortable with the plan of attack
that is
recommended by the SEO company.
Is
the SEO
firms own website listed in the google search engine index?
Do
they
operate under various SEO names?
The
article
reports on a SEO service that is being forced to pay back thousands of
dollars to their SEO clients because they couldn't live up to the
promises their $89.00 a month SEO sercvice offered.
Remember
if their promises sound “too
good to be true”...then they probably are.
8) Be
sure to understand where your SEO money is going.
Did
you know that when some search engine
optimization companies promise to get you on page
one…instead of working on
organic and natural page ranking for your website—they place
you in the
advertising section of Googles site rather than in the search results.
In other
words they are charging you for a pay per click service with
“one time”
advertising results instead of using
the SEO fees towards building the quality of your sites incoming links.
9) Make sure you're
protected legally.
Make
sure
you get everything in writing including the:
1)
SEO pricing fee structure.
2)
SEO Guarantee.
3)
Will
you get your money back if you are removed from a search engine's
index. beacause of their SEO tactics?
4)
Promise
to stay within guidelines recommended by each search engine.
10) What are
the most
common abuses a website owner is likely to encounter?
Have
you ever heard
of a "shadow" domain?
A shadow domains is owned by the search engine
optimisation service which will claim to be working on
“your” website. Down the
road, if you decide to stop working with them, the SEO company can then
point
the domain to a different website, or even worse…to one of
your competitor's
websites. Think
about that for a
moment…you will be paying SEO fees each and every
month—to build someone elses website
presence!
Another
common
abuse is to place "doorway"
pages loaded with keywords onto your website. Did you know that doorway
pages
are used link to the other SEO firm’s clients too? Again you
will be paying to
build another company’s website presence. Even worse than
that—these doorway pages
could lead to websites that promote pornography, drugs, violence,
terrorism and
gambling.
While
this is just a synapses of the
Google SEO suggestions,
remember that the most important thing is that you feel comfortable
with the
firm and the people you will be working with.
Its
no wonder
that many people enjoy working with a
local search engine ranking company that they can meet in person and
develop a
personal relationship with.
