How To Create A USP For Your Business Part 1
If you do not know what a USP or a “Unique Selling Proposition” is…then pay very close attention to what you are about to read, because it could have a dramatic impact on the way you are marketing your Atlanta business.
Are you ready?
So, give me one good reason why I should do business with you instead of your competitors?
Now before you answer…here are the rules. You can not use any of the following in your answer.
- Because we are better then anyone else.
- Because we have a better product
- Because we add value
- Because we care
- Because of our integrity
- Because of our people
- Because we have been in business for 25 years
Unfortunately, these “phrases” at face value don’t mean anything anymore. Especially…since all of your competitors are using the same phrases.
If you don’t believe me– look at their websites and yellow page ads and see for yourself.
When everyone can make the same claims that they are “special” or “different”…then nobody is “special” or “different”, are they?
So be honest with yourself for a moment… How did you do?
Can you come up with a specific reason why your client would have to be absolutely crazy to do business with anyone else but you?
Don’t feel bad if you can’t put it in words right now. You are not alone. In fact most small business owners have a problem with this little marketing exercise.
When you can clearly articulate what makes your business , product or service truly unique…your marketing can dominate your local market.
In our next article we will give you an example or two of a USP that you may recognize.
Pay close attention as it will help you define your own USP or Unique Selling Proposition for marketing your small local business.
