Stagnant Websites: Are You Hurting Your SEO Chances?

Is Your Website stagnant?

The dictionary defines stagnant as:

1. not flowing or running, as water, air, etc.
2. stale or foul from standing, as a pool of water.
3. characterized by lack of development, advancement, or progressive movement: a stagnant economy.
4. inactive, sluggish, or dull.

I don’t know about you, but the word stagnant always makes me think of sitting water that makes a perfect place for a mosquitoes breeding ground!

As you read these definitions which one of them defines your website and activity. If you are like most small businesses you may feel that the words: “lack of development”, “lack of progress movement” and “inactive” describe your businesses website.

Still not sure, well then take this little test:

Question 1: Does my website consist mainly of a:

1- Main page
2- About us page
3- Services page
4- Testimonial page
5- Contact us page

And that is it?

Question 2: When was the last time I added content or updated my site?

If you are like most business owners who are so busy in the day to day business of taking care of emergencies and putting out fires you probably feel a little guilty right about now. This could be one of the biggest reasons why your website isn’t being recognized and rewarded by google and the search engines.

What can you do?

1- Add relative content.
2- Make it helpful
3- Make it original
4- Lather, rinse and repeat

You will be rewarded for your efforts as your local businesses website begins to be recognized as an authority site while your stagnant competitors sites just sit there breeding mosquito larvae.
